Rudra review: Suspense is less in this suspense-thriller web series of Ajay Devgan but thrill is full

Now like many big actors of Bollywood Ajay Devgn Has also hit the entry on OTT. Ajay Devgan’s first web series ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’ Today Disney Plus has been released on Hotstar. This web series of director Rajesh Mapuskar is of 6 episodes and each episode is of about 1 hour. This series is an official adaptation of the famous Irish web series ‘Luther’.

Story: This is the story of DCP Rudraveer Singh of Special Crime Unit of Mumbai Police, who is the best officer of his department. He solves each case by looking at it from a very different angle, but due to his methods, DCP Rudraveer always remains on the radar of the system. This web series is a psychological crime thriller, in which Rudraveer catches many killers and at the same time tries to save himself.

The most important thing in any thriller is to create suspense among the audience that what will happen now, who is the murderer, or how are these murders happening, etc… But Rudra is different in this sense. In this series, DCP Rudra does not keep anything suspenseful, which you have to crack, but along with Rudra, you also move forward solving the case in the story. In this web series of 6 episodes, there is a new murder mystery in every episode and it is not even necessary that Rudra does wonders every time. Although this thing can also bore many people, that there is no suspense… But this is also its special thing.

The best thing I liked about Rudra was that you got to see Ajay Devgan’s style which I was missing for a long time, in this series. No forced whistling dialogues, but Ajay Devgan is seen doing what he is best in, talking with his eyes… There is a dialogue in this series – Kamal ki duniya hai aapki Rudra, where he broke the law to save the law May go. You can understand the whole character of Rudra with this one sentence.

You have seen Ayaz Devgan in the style of a supercop in many films from Singham to Gangajal, but Rudra is different. According to me, Rudra can be called the best choice for Ajay Devgan’s OTT debut. You have understood from so many praises that Ajay Devgan’s acting in this series is excellent. But this series is not only of Ajay Devgan. Artists like Rashi Khanna, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar have done a tremendous job in preparing Rudra. The last two episodes are in the names of Atul Kulkarni and Ajay Devgan. In fact, in some scenes, Atul is heavy on Ajay.

If there is any weak link in the acting department, then it has been Esha Deol, who could not leave any impact in her comeback. Actually this reason can be said that wherever the angle of Rudra’s personal life comes in the series, you will find it boring. My second complaint is the way Rashi Khanna’s character has been established… The mystery with which we start watching the story in the first episode and expect Rudra to do ab koi kamaal karega, ab kuch hoga, but result zero Is. Not only this, there is no further mention of this case.

The first two episodes of the series may seem a bit slow, but then in the remaining four episodes, the speed is good and the sequence too. Ajay Devgan’s Rudra – is a suspense thriller, in which there is no suspense, but yes there is thrill. 3.5 stars to this web series from my side.
